5.7 Magnitude Earthquake hits in Tripura North East State of India. The Epic Center was in Tripura. It is a  moderate intensity earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale in the Northeast of India and adjoining the districts of Bangladesh on Tuesday afternoon 2.39 Pm which was felt for about five to six seconds and it has been located at Latitude 24.1 degree North and Longitude 91.1 degree East.

The Central Seismological Observatory (CSO) in Shillong locating its epicenter in Ambassa area which is 59 km away from Agartala in Dhalai district, Tripura. The Epic Center of the Earthquake is at a depth of 28 kilometers., and it is close to Mizoram and the Chittagong Hill Tracts of Bangladesh. At least one person was killed and five others were injured in different areas of Dhalai after the tremors of the Earthquake as per reports.

While the tremor was felt strongly in Tripura, When the quake being felt by the local people ran away from houses and offices to save their lives.it is also said that the Tremors were felt in from Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and southern Assam the Earth Quake as per reports. 50-Year-Old Woman died due to heart stroke at her residence in Mayachari village under Kamalpur Police Station

Sources in Agartala said to be so many around 50 – 60 houses were reportedly damaged in Dhalai. The number of properties damaged is likely to increase after detailed reports are available. One bridge also developed cracks in Dhalai district, reports said.

There are Landslides occurred in many places on the remote Chhamanu-Gobindabari Road of Dhalai district. The officer-in-charge of state fire service department in Dhalai and Unakoti districts, Sukumar Debbarma said a portion of the boundary wall of the fire service office at Unakoti district had collapsed due to the earthquake. He aslo added that “A 20-meter stretch of the boundary collapsed”, landslides occurred in a number of places in a five-km radius along the Chhamanu-Gobindabari road.
