Pollution in India: Most polluted cities in the country list has been released by CPCB
Increasing urbanization and industrialization are pushing even the small cities of the country into pollution pits. Already, the release of carbon emissions in the national capital, Delhi, has reached an alarming level. Although the government mechanisms are taking measures to control pollution, the decline in air quality in many cities in the country is a cause for concern.
Most Polluted Cities in India:
Recently the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) has released a list of the most polluted cities in the country. It contains details of air quality standards for all 163 cities. In its report, CPCB stated that the air quality in Bihar’s Katihar city has dropped (360 points).
Delhi (354 points), Noida (328) and Ghaziabad (304) are the next cities. CPCB identified Begusarai in Bihar, Ballabgarh in Haryana, Faridabad, Kaithal, Gudgaon and Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh as the most polluted cities.
Air quality details of Hyderabad, Tirupati, Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram, Eluru and Anantapur cities in Telugu states are also included in this list. The report revealed that the air quality is poor in Visakhapatnam (202 points). Hyderabad (100), Anantapur (145), Eluru (61) and Tirupati (95
In its report, the CPCB stated that the pollution in the national capital region is increasing due to the burning of crop waste in the states of Punjab and Haryana and carbon emissions emitted by vehicles. The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) has also expressed concern over this. Recently, a total of 3,634 crop waste burning incidents have taken place in Punjab in a single day.
